Masters Games 2020
The NZRDI competition calendar for 2020 kicked off with The Masters Games Competition in Dunedin on 1 st of February.
With Scottish bagpipes filling the hall with stirring music the competitors came onto the floor for the opening ceremony with banners depicting the NZ town or city they represented .
The event took place in the amazing historical Dunedin town hall which added to the atmosphere as dancers came from all over NZ to compete for coveted Masters Games bronze, silver and gold medals.
It was great to see Top level masters couples dancing for top awards, along with ProAm competitors and newcomers.
This was an exciting time to be in Dunedin in the heart of the city as the Octagon was bustling with visitors attending master games events. The competition ended with all those involved in the event joining arm in arm in friendship in typical Dunedin Scottish fashion singing and dancing to Old Lang sine. The organiser for this event was Yvonne Dowling who along with her committee and supporters ensured that the day ran smoothly .
The event will be back in Dunedin in 2022 so make sure you include it in your dance diary.
