BACKGROUND
NZRDI currently has Solo events available in its Dancesport rules.
This enables amateur dancers t o dance as individuals in a competition environment.
We are delighted to advise that we are able to capture the achievements of solo dancers and recognize their wins and grading in the Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue styles in the Dancesport s ection.
We believe this will support our National grading and National championship framework.
Solo events continue to grow in popularity, and we are pleased to be supporting our dance community with this initiative.

SOLO DANCESPORT DRESS CODE
Under section 8 of the NZRDI Dancesport Rules & Guidelines is “Competition Attire”. These rules and conditions apply to all Solo Dancesport competitors.
For full dress code rules
GRADE TRACKING
The Record C lerk will automatically record, and update grades and wins from recognized NZRDI events.
Dancers will be notified of their upgrades and wins from the Record C lerk and can check their current grades and wins on the dancer’s portal at https://nzrdi.knack.com/reg#home/
A Dancer’s Solo event grading may be different to their amateur couple grading and wins, if they choose to dance in both sections.

BENEFITS FORCOMPETITION ORGANISERS
We know from feedback that Solo events are growing in popularity and provide an opportunity for dancers without partners to compete.
Solo dancers generally attract more supporters through family and friends which helps to cover the cost of running competition events.
Dancesport Solo events run under the same Dancesport rules as couple events, including approved syllabus figures, dress code and dances. The framework is recognized as a strong introduction for developing good dance foundations and technique.
We recommend that the events follow this naming convention
Dancesport, Solo, Level, Style dance names:
(e.g. Dancesport Solo Level 2 Latin Cha, Samba)

BENEFITS FOR STUDIO PRINCIPALS
Finding partners for pupils can be a challenge for studio principals.
Dancesport solo events provide a great development journey to support dancers goals without a partner. These events will encourage your dancers to compete for their own development and personal achievements which become part of your success.
Based on the foundation dance principles these events reward attention to good dance technique and base dance figures providing a fantastic platform for developing future dance champions.
We believe that these events will help grow your business through classes and private lessons.
